Dr Hemba Piné-Abata
I am a qualified medical doctor with over 20 years’ experience, having graduated in 2005. After completing my foundation training, I worked in primary care before undertaking a Master’s degree and PhD in Public Health at the University of Nottingham.
I gained extensive clinical experience in acute medicine and geriatrics across several NHS trusts, before completing my GP training on the Isle of Wight in 2020. I am now an NHS GP Partner and GP Trainer on the Isle of Wight where I help run a highly rated NHS GP practice and support the training of future General Practitioners.
In addition to my work at our Isle of Wight GP surgery, I also practice as an NHS 111 GP in South East Hampshire, providing extended access and out-of-hours GP services to patients across the region.
With a strong background in public health, I have a particular interest in preventative medicine, health optimisation and long-term wellbeing. I focus on helping patients in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas to prevent illness where possible and achieve their best possible health, not simply treating disease when it occurs. This preventative, patient-centred approach is central to the philosophy of care at Cathedral View Medical Centre, Portsmouth.
